Disillusioned with work in the civil service, Hugh studied performing
arts and discovered the circus community in Belfast. Founding member of
Streetwise Community Circus Workshops, he realised that his interest
lay particularly in performance and went on to work in various double
acts before forming Yella Fever Foundation, which toured Ireland and
parts of Europe. Returning to the stage with local theatre company
Cahoots NI, Hugh has developed a clown comfortable in scenarios as
diverse as street corners in Cambodia, markets of Sardinia, theatres in
South Korea and hospitals in Ireland.
