Otherworlds is an exciting and innovative circus show, which provides a
unique interpretation of ancient celtic mythology. This spectacle leads
the audience on a journey from contemporary urban landscpae into bright
new worlds, where strange beasts roam and the oceans and skies are
ruled by all maner of phenomena. Join these intrepid vagabond clowns on
their hilarious, ridiculous, scary, and absorbing odyssey as they seek to
settle old scores and lay some of their own ghosts to rest.
Performed with two traditional musicians and an original soundtrack
composed by Colin Blakey, ‘Otherworlds’ is for
all the family and a must see for all fans of
theatre, circus, live music, aerial acrobatics,
carnival costumes, masks, and especially for
those fond of the absurd.
Otherworlds is suitable
for audiences of all ages.
In 2006 Circus Bone Idle received a New Works Lottery Grant from the
Arts Council of Northern Ireland for its production of ‘Otherworlds’.
This enabled us to collaborate with composer Colin Blakey and Dutch
based clown and director Joe Dieffenbacher to create this unique show,
which was successfully premiered at the Festival of Fools in Belfast in
May 06 and subsequently toured to Ballycastle, Dundalk, Omagh and
Navan.

Quotes:
“Circus Bone Idle made a magnificent contribution to the success of the
Four Swans Festival, Ballycastle, in May 2005. Their unique performance
retold an ancient mystical journey using aerial acrobatics, drama, mime
and hilarious comedy. Woven together with music and magical sound
effects they held an all-age audience enthralled, slipping them easily
between worlds of fantasy and reality. The performers were a delight
to work with, providing a safe, professional and highly entertaining
performance against the spectacular backdrop of the Sea of Moyle .”
(David Quinney Mee, Four Swans Festival.)
“Just a note of thanks for the Other Worlds show that I saw in Solstice,
Navan this morning. Wonderfully entertaining. Good to see people out
there keeping the magic of theatre alive. Congratulations and long
success.” (Declan Mallon Upstate Theatre Project)
